Customer Requirement

In 2017, a German supplier to a leading automotive manufacturer, was producing three variants of an EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) exhaust manifold assembly for an out of production diesel engine.

The supplier wanted to cease production to free up the floor space for a new production part, and asked the customer to find an alternative supplier, whom they would support. The customer approached TMP Manufacturing to continue the production.

TMP Manufacturing solution

A number of planning meetings between the customer, the supplier and TMP Manufacturing were held. The supplier built up an agreed volume of safety stock prior to all nine dedicated production cells were transferred to us, along with all stocks of component parts, an inventory of spare parts for the machines, and letters of introduction to all component suppliers.

We took over the maintenance of all of the production cells and within a short period of time we were able to supply all three part numbers to the customer production schedules. This included procuring and replacing old Windows 95 PC’s on a vital test cell.
